The Children with Hearing Disabilities: Mothers’ General Health Status and Children’s Quality of Life

Background: Having disabled children can definitely hurt the mental health status of parents, especially mothers, and even directly affect children’s behaviors as well their adaptability progress during all care rehabilitation programs. Objectives: The main purpose this study was to investigate general mothers having with hearing disabilities reflect on quality life (QoL). Methods: This descriptive-analytical performed covered by State Welfare Organization (SWO) Iran in northern Khuzestan province 2019. Accordingly, a total 44 aged 1 - 6 years were included. data collected using demographic characteristics information form, 28-item General Health Questionnaire (GHQ) Netherlands for Applied Scientific Research Academic Medical Centre (TNO-AZL) Preschool Children Quality Life (TAPQOL) questionnaire. entered into SPSS Statistics software (ver. 22) analyzed descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, Spearman’s rank-order chi-square test. Results: According results, 79% had severe problems. severity such problems further elevated dimensions “physical symptoms”, “anxiety sleep disorders”, “depression”, “social functioning”, respectively. mean score QoL 79.13 ± 14.48, which at moderate level. findings showed significant relationship between some mothers’ QoL. Moreover, there reciprocal scores (P = 0.049, r -0.29). Conclusions: Although level, majority results could be useful system officials terms promotion designing implementing programs improve these children.
